If there's anything guaranteed to get David in a bad mood it's a house move (despite the fact that he's had so much practice he ought to know how to handle it by now !) However he's in good company - moving house is widely recognised as being very stressful. Don't take our word for it - see what the Irish have to say about it......
So how did our move go ? - quite well. We were lucky that the new house was both new and empty and only about 3km away. Liz was able to run back and forward during the day with boxes full of all the small stuff in the 2 weeks leading up to the move. And in the last 2 weekends before the day of the move (Wednesday 31st July) David was able to borrow a Toyata Hiace van from work. That enabled all the medium sized stuff to be moved too. Despite this, tempers (mostly David's) got frayed on quite a few occasions. By the morning of the 31st we had only the big stuff left and our friendly mover managed to load and unload that in under 3 hours.
We managed to avoid major damage. David carried one of our beautiful Ekornes teak coffee tables into the house with the legs behind him and the top facing away from him - the top fell out and shattered into 3 pieces ion the marble floor. Fortunately the local woodshop was able to repair it and unless you knew, you'd never notice. The only other damage was a small chip out of one of the bases that our speakers stand on - the wood shop will fix when we find time to take it round. Our biggest problem is that Batelco can't give us a date for installation of our phone so it looks like our mobile bills are about to go up and David won't be surfing the Net from home for a while !
So, all in all, not too bad. However it's definitely the last time we're moving in Bahrain !
