We live in the small Kingdom of Bahrain, just off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. It's connected to Saudi by a causeway and David travels across this every day to his job.
Bahrain is very tolerant (by Middle Eastern standards): women can drive; women can work; there is freedom of religion; comparatively free speech; and alcohol is available. After 13 years in Saudi (the most restrictive country in the Middle East) it's a nice place to live.
Our home is a rented house (only Bahrainis are allowed to own property) in a villa in the Saar area of the island. This is the north western part of the island convenient to the causeway and also the greenest part of the country. We have quite a lot of wildlife, particularly birds, although habitat destruction is increasing.
